I'm not sorry
Trigger warning: Pro Palestine sentiments.
You
might say I have no right to comment on the Israel-Palestine conflict. First
things first, I wouldn’t call it a conflict. I believe it becomes a conflict
when the two parties involved have some fairgrounds to fight on. Here, (from my
understanding of articles that I have read and videos that I have seen and the
history of Israel that I have studied, trust me when I say this, I am obsessed
with Judaism and Israel. I have literally watched every fricking documentary on
the internet about the Holocaust. I can give a speech about Mossad) I don’t
believe it’s a fair fight. Israel has one of the best and advanced (I hope
everyone is aware of Israel’s Iron Dome) armed forces in the whole wide world.
And who are they fighting with? Palestine. Palestine doesn’t even have a proper
government in place, let alone armed forces. I know I know, this is when Hamas
comes into the picture.
I came
across a post about the origin of Hamas. The post says: "Hamas was
established in 1987. Palestinians have been displaced, dispossessed, killed,
and illegally occupied by the State of Israel since 1948. Do the math". I
googled. I’m not the one to blindly believe things someone says. Had I been
such a person, I wouldn’t be writing this. Like I said before, I am obsessed
with Judaism. I’ve traveled 2 hours by train to go see a Synagogue I read about
in the newspaper. And it is one of the topmost things on my bucket list to
attend prayers in a synagogue and participate in Sabbath celebrations.
I know I’m all over the place right now. My motive behind writing this is the fact that I’m frustrated and I need to rant. It boils my blood to know that there are two narratives. While talking to a friend on call yesterday, she told me she supports the right side. And when I asked her which the right side is, she said it’s obviously Israel. Why is it so obvious? Is it because the other side is Muslim?
My point is, it is pretty evident that Israel is oppressing them. The Geneva Convention drew the borders of Israel and Palestine. Why is it so difficult for Israel to stay within its borders? Why are Israeli settlements being built in the West bank? Why are the borders of Palestine being controlled by Israel? Why are families being told to leave their homes in Sheik Jarrah? Why were people praying inside Al Aqsa attacked with rubberized bullets and stun grenades? Despite all of this, why is Israel playing the victim?
I’m in no way trying to deny the fact that Hamas launched the first rocket into Israeli territory. But for God’s sake, this isn’t a fair fight. This isn’t a conflict. This is oppression. A few days back, Kangana Ranaut put up a post on Instagram saying all the Muslim nations neighboring Israel is attacking Israel because it’s the Jewish nation. Why is religion dragged into everything happening in the world? If that was the case, this Jewish nation wouldn’t be in existence today. The Muslim nations would have swallowed it just like Israel is trying to swallow Palestine.
Also,
let’s not forget what happened last time, when Germany attempted ethnic
cleansing. I forgot my main question. Why is Gaza said to be the world’s
largest open-air prison and no one’s done anything about it? Where has the UN
been? And most importantly, why are nations still supporting Israeli oppression
and violation of human rights?
I might
be wrong. I don’t know. But I believe it’s my fundamental right to be able to
ask questions. And express my opinion. I’m open to discussion if you think I’m
wrong. But if you think I have offended you, I genuinely don’t care. I’m
entitled to my opinion, just like you are.
